RECIPE FOR PERFECT DOUGHNUT EVERY TIME

Some time ago, between two waves of corona, my kid's friends (who are pesky little 6 years old) decided to have a pot luck party. They made pretty invitation card with lovely drawings. Because everyone was to bring food they cherish the most, my daughter right away asked me to make doughnuts, loaded with chocolate glaze. And off course top with a lot of rainbow sprinkle that makes it extra special.

At the end it turns out, I was the only mother who saw through the kid's excitement, ashamed to turn them down, decided to make some, actually, make a lot. I had to double the recipe.

As I was folding the doughnut dough, I peeked in the living room filled with neighborhood kid's, who were gazing back at me with gleaming eyes, waiting patiently, impatiently, to be honest.

I had to be real quick, so I invite them in. They glaze freshly cooked doughnuts with a lot of chocolate, I even let them have extra on the side.

It was a happy and fun day. Everyone had fun and I became their best love neighborhood auntie that I think I kind of deserves. So, the magical recipe to make kid's summer memorable is to make a lot of doughnut, give them sugar rush and let them have fun.

INGREDIENTS A

Instant yeast    1pack

Warm water  Â½ cup  (pretty warm. you should be able to hold your finger in it for 5 seconds, not more than that)

Sugar 1 tbsp

Flour 1 tbsp

INGREDIENTS B  

Oil  2tbsp

Salt ½ tsp

Milk 1 cup warm

Sugar ¼ cup

Flour 2 ½ cups

Oil for frying

FOR CHOCOLATE GLAZE

 Sugar 6 tbsp.

Water 1 tbsp.

Cocoa powder 4 tbsp.

Butter 2 tbsp.

Cream 2 tbsp.

METHOD FOR DOUGHNUT

  1. Mix ingredientsâ€Â Aâ€Â in a bowl and let to sit for 20 minutes or until bubbles appears on edges, it takes  20 to 30 minutes.
  2. Add ingredients B to the above bowl. Kneed really hard for whole 10 minutes. Cover with cloth and place in a warm place like near lit stove or in oven for 40 minutes.
  3. The dough would have risen and doubled in size. Kneed some more.
  4. Roll out to 1 inch thickness.
  5. Cut shape with a cuter and leave them for further 30 minutes to rise.
  6. Heat oil to 350 degree centigrade.
  7. Fry till golden brown and glaze when they cool down.

METHOD FOR GLAZE

  1. In a small sauce pan, heat butter, water and sugar on low flame.
  2. When sugar is almost dissolved, add cocoa powder and cream.
  3. Simmer for 2 minutes.
  4. Cool, glaze and add sprinkle.
