Delicious chickpeas are the best healthy, nutritious and low-calorie food element out there, a staple food for dieters and people on fasting. They are a good filler (high in fiber), and enriched with protein.
Once there was a great Mughal Emperor Shahjahan (heard of him? He built the famous Taj Mahal). He was succeeded by his son Aurangzeb by bitter consequences of political rivaly.
His life spared, but was imprisoned till death in a tower, Agra Fort. Given a royal chef, But allowed to choose only one dearest food that he will be eating his entire life. Guess what he choose. Chickpeas.
His loyal chef must be very proactive to cook a variety of dishes to last for like forever. Poor soul, he also had to eat it himself, so there should be a genius amount of creativity. Never the less, those great chickpeas recipes got out, and spread all over the Mughal empire.
Chickpeas also called Chany in Urdu are like desi people’s national food. Eaten in breakfast or lunch, as a snack or hi-tea, the infamous Chana chat orchana fruit chaat, there are countless recipes to cherish. Cherish for lifetime even if you were a king!
