Crochet was my first obsession but that changed to knitting in recent years. Mainly because knitting is more elastic and easy to shape whereas crochet is somewhat rigid but still the faster way to knit a beanie. (I crochet a baby beanie in 3 hours, even though my speed is slow normal). Recently I happened to attend a workshop on crochet for beginners. It renewed my passion for crochet. They shared a very basic beanie pattern. It has awesome instruction for shaping at the end that I have never heard or thought of. Now everyone in my family is going to have a beanie this winter.
A word about needle size before you start
Smaller needle size is for thin yarn and bigger size for thicker yarn.
Of course, you can use any yarn with any needle, but if you are using a smaller needle your stitches will be tighter and your beanie will be stiffer. And if you are using a larger needle your stitches will be loose and wobbly.
If you don't have many needles then try to change your tension. Make a loser or tighter stitch to match your needle requirement.
Here, I am using DK yarn with needle sizes 7 – 8.
